Water Softeners - How they work and reducing their salt usage
Often a mystery to homeowners, we'll learn about how a water softener works and more importantly, how to reduce their salt usage. But before we do we'll see why as Today's Home Remodeler host Stuart Keith heads to the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District treatment plant to meet with Kathy Lake. We'll learn about their treatment process and how too much salt is entering their facility through wastewater coming from water softeners. We'll touch on the environmental impacts of too much salt in our freshwater ecosystems and also what it could mean if nothing is done about it. We'll then head to the Plumbers Local 75 Training Center to find some solutions and meet with instructor Bob Lanphea...

Replacing Regular Gutters with LeafGuard Gutters
I’m taking notes
Why don't you just cover the whole roof in ice and water shield, lol.
50 lol yeah right
I love the process but I did see SPF number 2 which isn't(edit:"premium") structural lumber. Premium lumber is number 1, at 14:36 it looks like the gable tyvek is negatively lapped into the lower tyvek but it could be my eyes. That's just me picking though lol. Awesome video, loved it🤘.
SPF graded #2 and #3 is structural, according to 2018 IRC R502
@@simeonblair2991 interesting where I'm from number 2 is not premium structural, only number 1 is what we call actual premium structural. 2 and 3 are most commonly used but number 1 is the premium structural lumber in Canada. That's what I was saying, Im a framer and I do everything, turnkey packages, 2000sq ft homes to 8000sq ft multi million dollar homes. We designate number 1 as actual premium structural lumber, number 2 is most commonly used but usually full of imperfections so it's never considered premium lumber unless it's number 1. We frame mostly with 2 as in Newfoundland you can't even get grade 1. Canada exports a lot of our premium lumber as well. Number 1 is available here just not in all provinces. If you frame at all and use number 2 you'll know exactly what I mean , lumber dimensions are off, warps, bows, bends ,crooks, pre cuts aren't always exact, a 2x6 can measure at 51/2, 5 7/16 , 5 3/8, 5 5/8. Etc etc.
South Ontario Egress window dose this work out, let me know how to it feel finishing 3\4 on an 8 hour day, ultralight ex, and ring saw/ loader / trailer…… with my bros
Man, they really hammer home that you need to pay someone to do this but do an amazing job showing me how i will do it myself. 😂
What about insulation that has mold on it? Remove it rigth?
Absolutely junk that, it's dangerous. And preferably by pros prepared to handle and dispose if it properly.
That music made me not watch this. Like a dagger in my ear
These clowns have no idea what they’re doing. They are spraying open cell in this application and that soaks up moisture like a sponge. Also they applied it wrong leaving lots of air cavities entrapped in the foam.
Can you add to an older pre-existing home?
how about a better vid on the chimney...
dont u have 2 insulate chimney?
I have a different way I want to finish my siding. My house is 100 years old. I have metal tips on the end of each corner. I’d like to keep them. Reuse them. Have you ever tried to finish a corner like that?
Any company recommendations for Chicago area.
over $3500 for each window
Always loved it when jackasses like this kept saying we are going to do this and we are going to do that....and all they do is stand on the ground and talk smart. Tits on a boar pig.
Why is there no vapor barrier on the wall side? I'm just learning how to do this!
MEXICAAAAAANS
This video sucks.
👍
Nice working on a plumbing and I am a plumber working on a in Bangladesh ,
How can the HVAC contractor seriously say with a straight face that a 15-year-old furnace "is starting to near the end of its life" before he's done a millisecond of diagnosis (and after acknowledging that the unit is well-maintained and running well)? The customer wants to upgrade because they want to upgrade. That's fine. But don't pile on with doomsday nonsense.
enough of these stupid commercials
The house may not sink now but putting that clay back with no French drain will just cause a problem on the foundation wall at some point! The soil will just start pushing the wall in.
If that company uses carbon fiber they can not be trusted because carbon fiber is “useless” it does not fix a problem at all.
Interesting hybrid system. They could save even more if they super insulated the piping and air ducts.
GAF product is a joke compared to Grace brand Ice and Water Shield. ......... We put on a roof which will last 50+ years! We repaired all wood sheathing + added a 2nd layer & used 1" ply on all eaves. AND ON ALL EAVES we primed & painted all 6 sides of the ply before installing the new ply over the eaves. ...... We used "Grace Brand" ~ "Ice and Water Shield" on our entire roof. THEN we used Grace Tiger-paw as a SECOND underlayment on top of that in case we ever nave to replace shingles. NOT LIKELY THOUGH since we went with top-of-the-line shingles from MALARKEY. ADDITIONALLY - THIS IS HOW WE saved 35% off our energy bill permanently. AND, prepared our roof for flawless solar installation [Note the 2nd layer of ply]: a] we put in soffit vents every 28 inches. b] we inspected all electrical and plumbing in the attic. c] we installed a sun tunnel into every room needing sunlight. d] we installed thermostatic attic vents into the gable ends of our roof. e] we installed ceiling vents to evacuate heat or odors if necessary. Switches on timers. f] we added a Catwalk+Lighing to make all of this easier. [actually the 1st step] g] we went from R-13 to R-50 insulation. It worked so well we will do R-70 next.
Once they get dirty, they stop working because the water doesn't adhere to the round edge: ruclips.net/user/shortsP0WrxMh_Z68
Should this be done on an older home that does not have an exterior vapor barrier around the foundation?
can you install skylights on this shake roof?
Living in North Carolina, I came home one day and my front gutter had broken in half and one end was on the ground. Time to get new gutters. Checked out some of the newest ideas and decided to go with LeafGuard. DON'T DO IT! I was assured by one of the installers that, if, by chance, these gutters did need cleaning, they have a special tool to get into that space. Even if you have a lifetime guarantee, that doesn't mean they will call back. It doesn't mean the office in your area will still be there when you need them. Once I started searching for a LeafGuard distributor near me I've had calls from every gutter company and most of the gutter cleaners in Wester North Carolina. I hesitate to have someone else clean them because it might void the lifetime guarantee? I did try a few years back to call the distributor who installed my LeafGuard gutters to have the gutters checked and the number was disconnected.
Como colocar para insolaciones
i put foamular up around the entire perimeter of the concrete in the basement, yet in winter there is still freezing cold concrete walls causing frost to build up even when i thought there was a thermal break from any warm air in basement hitting that cold wall (and condensating). Any ideas on how/why to prevent this? It's not just a "too much moisture in air" issue in basement as i do run dehumidifiers.
Excellent information in this walk through.
i love how all my spanish homies putting in that work on the roof 💙
This video is a sales video, not a video of issues that are negative, like water absorption which is a real issue. LP only gives you a 5-year warranty, not a 30 year because for 5 years your siding is 100% covered but after that 5th year the warranty is pro-rated and by the 10th year your warranty is not of value. The siding has to be painted after installation to seal up all places where water will be absorbed which is the real issue. LP and these guys selling in this video know this but don't tell you. Buyer beware.
Wow love! I just bought a home in Minnesota and am trying to find palm like looking plants for our landscape and wow this looks magnificent! Will have to try
Live in North Texas. Installed heat pump in new house in 2000. On days below 32 deg. does not work. You need to have either supplemental gas furnace or resistive (expensive electric) back up. Moved in 2008 and now happy with gas furnace and regular AC compressor. To each his own I guess. Kind of like gas vs. EV automobiles.
summer time AC can help warming up water using heat dumped outside?
A lot of gold screws. I hate those
Good video, however it was a 26 minute commercial , a bit too much pushing their company business
You guys hanging out in an attic that "used to have" vermiculite.. you're breathing it in. They can never get rid of all of it. Good luck in your old age. ..
I considering heat pump, but I do not like the fact that the system apparently uses a back up (furnace) . Can the heat pump work on their own.
Dear We badly need to set up roads between sudan and chad and nigar but we don't know the cost i mean money Google map it's important here If we doing this roads sudan land can receive 1 million container for doing business with west africa market Daily 20 truks can go by holding goods from sudan market and chain and other Thank you so much
My attic has 50 years of mouse infestation in it. I kind of want it removed if its possible.
How do I get a catalog and get in contact with you???
pretty good info on shield, roofing and comprehensive but........... But did you notice that most these guys looked Hispanic, and closeups confirmed that. So same guys republicans talk shiit about are so invaluable to this country's roofs. This garbage country could not exist if not for these mexican-looking workers. Fat contractor hasn't been up there in a long time I bet.
